THE POSITIVE PLACE. SALES MOTIVATION AND PERSONAL GROWTH
Priorities.
I've been out of the office for a week and a half, fighting other battles, mostly involving turkey and stuffing.
Aside from a few calls here or there, my problems at the office seem to have waited for me. The challenges I had when I walked out the door one Friday are still there. Due to the nature of the holiday, not much has been done by anyone else, either. Like me, they mostly stayed away from the hassle of the office, spending time with family and friends.
That brings up one thing to remember for our lives. Work waits, but the good things in life rarely do.
A pile of papers on your desk will usually wait to be sorted, but your child will not be able to wait for you to see him walk for the first time. A meeting can be postponed, but giving love to your family cannot (or should not) be rescheduled. Caring cannot wait, but performance reviews should.
Yes, business is important. The way we make our living is essential to our future. But it will likely wait a bit, while you hug your loved ones one more time.
At this holiday season, remember to never overlook a family get together for the sake of maneuvering at an office party, never shortchange your loved ones just to buy something to impress your coworkers, never choose working late when it's not absolutely necessary, and always choose those people who would give you future happiness, rather than the people who would fill your life with endless meetings.
