THE POSITIVE PLACE. SALES MOTIVATION AND PERSONAL GROWTH
A second chance to start
Back when I used to pay a lot of attention to website usage logs, I noticed an unusual thing: September always brought high numbers -- almost as high as January (the height of the resolution season).
It soon became apparent that for many people, September is a time of rebirth of a sorts. Summer (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere) is ending, school has started for the kids, and it’s a time to re-evaluate where we are and where we wish to go.
Plus, most of us remember the time we would return to school after a summer’s vacation -- and so as the days start to get shorter and the the kids head off to school, it’s a good time for most of us to take a second chance to start.
If you’re reading this from the other half of the world, then insert your own appropriate months.
The truth is that we can rededicate our lives and our efforts any day of the year, summer, winter, spring or fall. Although the old adage of “today is the first day of the rest of your life” seems rather corny at times, it’s true -- the choice to start again is in your hands, and the when, how and where to change is in your hands as well.
For many of us, the first step towards change is the most difficult one, but it’s an important one. Without that first step toward the top of the mountain peak, the peak will never be reached. Without the first movement toward a goal, the goal will never be achieved.
Many people realize this -- and after they may have misfired in January, slept through the spring, took the summer off, they start to get down to basics in September.
And I say more power to them.
It doesn’t matter when you start toward a goal, but as September rears its head and we move toward the final four months of the year, it’s a great chance to make (or remake) some goals, get yourself on track, and lay out a course for completion for the final part of the year. September really is a good time for a second chance to start.
So make that first move, take that first step, choose the right road, and start off on the road to your own, personal success. It doesn’t matter what month it may be, or what day of the month -- what matters is that you make a commitment with yourself to become better, grow higher, and move farther on the road to your success.
