THE POSITIVE PLACE. SALES MOTIVATION AND PERSONAL GROWTH
The need to excel
We are individuals who need to progress. Yes, I know there are those who would rather sit on the couch and eat Cheetos all day while they stare at the boob tube -- but these are people who have given up on life and chosen a path that will take them to neither happiness or a superior life.
As people, we need to excel -- we need challenges, growth, and something to strive for. We need to become better. Each and every one of us need to become better.
It would be terrible if a person who could conquer great mountains would choose instead to only step on anthills -- and it is terrible when people choose to become dramatically less than what they could be.
Most people who fall into this category are those who have long ago learned to style themselves as victims. For whatever reason -- background, heritage, economic history among them -- some people choose to give up, and they give up early and often.
These people never choose to climb the mountain -- only to stay it its base and look at their shoes. They do not make themselves better; for whatever reason, they have decided that their life is out of their hands, beyond their control, run into a ditch, and broken down forever. And since they have decided that, so it becomes.
Each of us has a duty to make ourselves better, even incrementally. It's a duty to those we love, to our community, to our society in general. Each of us has the ability to ascend to great heights and develop great talents -- but altogether too many of us never take the first step to put ourselves on a footing to success.
It's not enough to just exist in life -- anybody can just exist. What matters is that we become better, become greater, use our natural abilities and our God-given creativity in order to make our lives and the lives around us better and even great. Until we challenge our lives, and dig deeply into ourselves to find what we can share, we are condemned to never rise to the level that our destiny holds. It is up to us to find out our destiny, or to make that destiny come to fruition in our life.
Each of has that need -- or had that need -- and it can be reawakened, re-established, put to service and can make a vast difference in our life, if we only challenge ourselves and look for that ability, and need to excel.
