Changes
This edition of Monday Motivation is a bit late. I’ve been out of town, and I’m in the middle of moving material from our previous home, Salesstar.com, to our new home, WeekdayWisdom.com.
In other words, change is in the wind.
Change is a tricky thing. It can be an intensely irritating, nerve-wracking process which leaves its victims upset and mixed up. It can also be an exhilarating process of self-awareness, filled with new opportunities, new destinations, and new growth.
Oddly enough, the same change may be greeted by different people in totally opposite ways.
Some years ago, a former boss encouraged our office to read the small book “Who Moved the Cheese.” It’s a little book, and the premise that comes out of it is that it really doesn’t matter why change happens – what matters is how we change to adopt the change – whatever it may be.
Our response to change, therefore, is more about ourselves, and less about the change itself. How we greet, view, and adopt change is the key – we can either look at it as a stepping stone or a stumbling block. We can see change as an obstacle, or as a blessing in our lives.
I know there are some changes that are never good – the death of a loved one, for example – but most change is less dramatic. Most change is a matter of choosing to adopt, embrace, and profit from whatever change is in the wind.
You see, change is something that can be debilitating or exhilarating. The difference is purely in how we choose to see that change.
Now, about our new home. For over 10 years, I have owned the domain salesstar.com. When I first picked up the domain, I had thought of moving in an entirely different direction. When it moved in its current direction, the name didn’t seem to fit. I’ve had various offers to purchase the domain name over the years, and I finally took one up on their offer. The new home isn’t quite done yet – in the next few weeks, it will be reformed into what it should have been, database driven, topic indexed, and better. For now, however, this is a temporary setup. The files have been migrated from Salesstar.com, and largely changed, but in the next few weeks, they will change further. There are still a lot of rough areas here and there – but they’ll come around. Additionally, in a few weeks, I will provide the ability to get your weekly Monday Motivation by mail or RSS. I hope it’ll be a better place to visit.
Thank you for coming by. I know the transition has been a bit rocky so far. The cutover caught me at a challenging time. But I’m glad you’ve made it here. Please tell your friends and coworkers about us.
Thanks,
Daryl Gibson
